The Celtic Panel - step 2

Description

In this step I usually transfer the border onto the actual paper/parchment or whatever it's meant to be on. When the main lines are on, I start 'cracking'. This is a term used for cracking a part of the panel, and working it into another part. Any knot can be cracked, as long as the line that are opened can be connected. The only thing you really need for cracking a panel is a bit of creativity. If you have no inspirationn whatsoever I suggest staring at a plate of spaghetti for a while, but flipping through refference sketches you made earlier (always take a sketch book when visiting some museum that has pictish arts on display!!!), or pictures or whatever you can find.

After I cracked the middle panel top into the 'main-frame' I worked loose the bands at the bottom. On my sketch you might have seen this as well. My idea was to have the wolves in playfull position holding the lines, that, at the time, would probably end up looking like plants.

After everything is cleaned up, I lightly erase the lines to create the 'up and down' stuff.
