The well camouflaged woodcock.. such a bizarre and wonderful bird.

This piece feature on the Great Irish Game fair as a display item to show people that taxidermy doesn't always have to be ugly, stiff or creepy. During this fair I also held demonstrations. On Saturday I worked on a red-leg partridge, and on Sunday I worked on a wee female Kestrel.

~To whom it may concern, (please read before accusing me of anything!)
The animal used in this project was legal quarry. None of the animals I work on are killed for the purpose of taxidermy alone and most are found along side the road or come from bird/animal breeders in the area.

That bird looks like it's still alive, and such an interesting bird! I've never seen one of those before, lol. That's a nice base.

ahhhh! i've stumbled upon woodcocks in the woods before. its amazing how close they'll let you approach, and then just explode out of the bushes!

Wow, what an exceptionally unique bird. Those colours are amazing. Really nicely done. I love you you're showing how well they can hide by placing it low on the mount, but it still stands out because it's on green and not brown. Really amazing.
