Taxidermy - Kingfisher diving by Illahie Taxidermy - Kingfisher diving by Illahie
Another stand for that school. This time a kingfisher whom has just spotted a fish

~To whom it may concern, (please read before accusing me of anything!)
This kingfisher died a natural cause. NONE of the animals I work on are killed for the purpose of taxidermy only and most are found along side the road or come from bird/animal breeders in the area.

This is an absolutely amazing mount! The beak is perfectly even and the plumage is amazing! You should be very proud of this piece. Give yourself a pat on the back! Stitch clap plz

Just out of curiosity, how much a kingfisher mount like this would be?

Hiya Hiya :) If delivered by the customer the kingfisher would cost £95 GBP to get done :)

Wow, that's a lot of money but it would be worth it.I bet it was hard work doing all the details and making it look so alive!

Yeah, I really like exotic colored birds, especially bee eaters. Are they hard to come by? And what about the laws and permissions? I dont know if they“re a endangered species. You could note me with details. But the soonest I can answer is next sunday, because I“m for one week on vacation now ;-)

I only wish I could find such a specimen on the side of the road, let alone have someone give it to me!

Not really.. but it varies from person to person. I find birds easier to work with, but mammals are more fun since you can resculpt emotions and such so much better than with birds :)

I think what really ties your taxidermy works together for me in the end, is the very natural poses, and the amazingly realistic enviroments you place them on (and of course, your great skill of mounting the critters very very well O_o )

do you sell your kingfisher works?

Law fully speaking it isn't allowed, since trade in protected species isn't allowed over here. I'm a state acknowledged taxidermist and I'm only allowed to work on a commission basis
