MissMonster Torc by Illahie MissMonster Torc by Illahie
A custom torc for the amazing MissMonster; [link] ! A overly talented artist that has the BEST monster designs, costumes and so much more. It was a absolute HONOUR to work on a custom torc for her, which was based around her 'Foo-dog' (see the awesome beastie here; [link] ) character.

Main braid is stainless steel, and the terminals are silver, with gold accents. On the tail end (left side) it features a golden band, and three gold dots. On the head end (right side) we have a golden eye-brow arch leading up to the ear, and the lips are also golden.

Trademark snaggle fangs, spirals and all. This project was a mix of Celtic styling with a blend of eastern influences. A project I'll miss working on.

This is amazing as always, you took the tentacle style of *missmonster quite well, I am more impressed than I was before with all your other pieces. Bravo to your wonderful talent!

The balance between the Celtic styling and her more 'liquid' style was very different to tackle indeed, but I do love the way it looks!

I'm sure somewhere in this mass of comments this question was already asked but since I'm curious now.
How much would one of these wonderful piece cost? I have some other questions too but I'll save them for now

Send me a note ;) It all depends on what you want and what materials you want me to use. I varies greatly, so giving a single estimate is hard

*drools* that so pretty!
*thinks about buying one*
roughly how much would a torc of similar design and materials cost?

:iconillahie:
Illahie Featured By Owner Feb 10, 2008  Professional Artisan Crafter
It would be around $400 and up, but is all really depends on the complexity of the design. The 22k gold accents add to this commission, but I'm also able to set stones and such :)

Love it, sis. So - tell me what the process is for joining these two metals together to form the gold accents?

There are a number of ways to do things, but for gilding only parts of a design I use the Keum-boo method, heat and pressure are the key really :)

Most impressive,I love the gold on the silver. I am not a gold person but the contrast really dresses up the piece. The tail as a terminal is grand. I have a piece on paper with a similar type of terminal only a Stag head on the other end.

I'm much more of a silver person meself ;) But I agree, this piece really works with the gold accents!

And I can't wait to see your project finished! :)

I'm definitely going to have to see if I can come up with a potential design for you. Your metal work is just so full of win. I doubt I could afford what you deserve to be paid for such quailty! :)
