A long time ago I had a kiriban thing going on, and StephenRSJr was the lucky one whom got it. Sadly all kinds of things kept piling up, and then my big move to County Down wasn't helping towards finishing this piece.
Although the kiriban was for a simple styled black&white line work piece I took some time to color it digitally, because Stephen has been a true angel waiting for this piece.
A piece dedicated to a good female friend of his. Originally it was meant as a welcome home piece when she had to return home after she sustained a injury in the Army Reserves, but since it was a bit on the late side I decided to put a different tone to it. Tháinig mé slán - I came unharmed - because of her returning home safe and sound.

Wonderful piece of work, Illahie! I'm very happy with the final result!
Just to clarify, this was meant as a gift for a lady friend of mine (she's not my girlfriend, in the romantic sense that is, but we are good friends), who had joined the Army Reserves, but because of a physical injury she later had to leave Basic Training and return to civilian life.
She wrote to me while in holding, waiting for her discharge, and I hoped to give her this picture as a 'welcome home' gift last year. The significance of the image was to show her that she was cared for, and that there were people that were waiting to welcome her back home.
Thanks again, Illahie! It was well worth the wait!
